Motocross Tracks in NSW: 5 Club Race Days Worth the Drive
From the Hunter Valley to the Mid North Coast, here are five NSW motocross clubs worth knowing — where they ride, who they suit, and how to follow race day live from the pits.
Searching "motocross tracks near me" usually gets you a map pin, a Facebook page last updated in 2019, and a phone number nobody answers on a Saturday. Not ideal when you've already loaded the bike.
So here's a better starting point: five NSW clubs, what makes each one different, and where to find the details that actually matter on race day.
1. Cessnock Motocross Club — Hunter Valley
Racing at Keith Allen Park on Old Maitland Road since 1970, Cessnock is one of the Hunter's institutions. Around 800 members, Nippers through to Over 35s, and home of the annual Keith Allen Classic.
Race days run under a Motorcycling NSW permit, entries go through Ridernet, and there's a canteen and camping on site. The best bit for families: Cessnock publishes its program, running order and live results on SquadRace, so you can check when your rider is up without camping by the notice board.
2. Goulburn Motorcycle Club — Southern Tablelands
Founded in 1911, Goulburn is one of the oldest motorcycle clubs in the country. Its Speedway Road grounds in Bradfordville are now the High View MX track, built for every level of rider, not just the fast crowd.
It's a short hop off the Hume, which makes it an easy stop between Sydney and Canberra. Ride day entries are taken on the day, and the club's Facebook page is where dates and weather calls land.
3. Hastings Valley Motorcycle Club — Mid North Coast
A purpose-built circuit on Cowarra Access Road between Wauchope and Port Macquarie, with more than fifty years in the local scene. Hastings Valley has hosted NSW Motocross State Title rounds, including Round 2 of the 2024 Junior and Senior titles.
It also runs licence-free Ride Park Days and Kick Start programs for juniors — a genuinely good first step if you've got a young rider who's ready for more than the back paddock.

4. Wollongong Motorcycle Club — Illawarra
The Illawarra's local option for riders south of Sydney. Check the club page for location, disciplines and how to get involved before you head down.

5. Heaven VMX — travelling vintage motocross
The odd one out, in the best way. Heaven VMX doesn't have a home track — it's a vintage club that races bikes from the 1960s through the 2000s at established venues around NSW, including Cessnock and Nowra Motoplex.
If you've got a twin-shock in the shed that deserves better than a dust sheet, this is your crowd.

Before you go: a quick race-day checklist
- Licence and entry — most competition days need a Motorcycling Australia licence and a Ridernet entry. Ride park days often don't.
- Check the club's latest update — weather cancellations are usually posted on the morning.
- Arrive for sign-on and the riders briefing — missing it can mean missing practice.
- Know your race order — at clubs running live schedules, bookmark the race day page on your phone.
- Bring cash — plenty of canteens still prefer it.
Why live race day pages matter
The most common question at any motocross track isn't about lines or tyres. It's "when's my kid racing?" Clubs that publish their program and results live cut that question down to almost nothing — and their volunteers get to watch some racing too.
